Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you have a print catalogue?
A: No, Rose Campbell's Cottageworks products are available exclusively through our online store: www.RoseCampbellCW.com and at local regularly attended craft shows throughout the state of Connecticut. Because of the unique nature of our products, producing a print catalogue would be impractical, as most of our tote bags, doll gowns and ribbon hair bows are one of a kind. A print catalogue would quickly become out of date, and would increase our costs, making it difficult for us to provide our goods at competitive prices.
Q: Do you have a telephone number?
A: The best way to initially reach me is through our contact form, which sends your message directly to my email inbox. After I reply, you'll have my email address for any further correspondence. Our email address is not published on RoseCampbellCW.com because doing so results in lots of spam clogging up our inbox. We do not process credit-card orders over the phone, because we use Paypal, rather than having our own merchant account. This keeps costs down as well, so we can maintain our competitive pricing.
Q: Do your products come in different sizes?
A: Yes, our Emmaline Aprons come in both child and ladies sizes, and a number of our Sterling silver jewelry pieces are available to fit both children and ladies.
Q: Where can I purchase dolls like the beautiful ones modeling your doll clothing?
A: Our doll clothing fits any standard 18"doll, and the three dolls pictured in our online store were crafted in northern Bavaria by Engel-Puppen toy company.
Our Generation dolls, available in-store at Target and online at Target.com, are also a great option. Their craftsmanship is not as high as that of Gotz and the American Girl dolls, (for example, their hair is difficult to brush and tends to break off, so the best thing to do is keep their hair in a permanent style, such as curls or braids) but their price ($20.00 USD or less) is perfect for someone who is purchasing for a very young child, or wants to economically collect a few dolls.
Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: Everywhere! My sisters, brothers and I often study print and online publications, and jot down ideas for future products, and we like to take apart things, which helps in designing and improving a product pattern. The beautiful colors we see in God's creation are also a wonderful inspiration. Many times also, a friend or customer will request a custom item, which gives us a new launch board. Our Sweet Caroline smock and Julia apron are two examples of custom orders which became product lines. When I was a young girl, one of my favorite things to do was cut up my clothes and make new items out of them, especially blue jeans, hence our recycled Tote bags. Many of the names of of our products, i.e. Saskia and Elizabeth, are the names of our friends, and ladies who have inspired us.
Q: How do I place an order?
A: You can order nearly all of our products from our online store, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and e-checks through Paypal. (Some products are available exclusively in person, at regular craft fairs around Connecticut, for more information on when and where we will be in the near future, visit our Events page.) If you email me through our Contact Page and don't hear back within a week, my reply was probably caught in your spam filter. Please try sending a message to me again, via our contact form, if you think your previous one failed, or mine was blocked. (Particularly if you have an AOL or Hotmail account.)
Q: Can I order over the phone with a credit card? I am having trouble using Paypal.
A: Sorry, no can do! :( We use Paypal for credit card processing, rather than a merchant account, and therefore cannot process credit cards directly. If you cannot add items to your shopping cart in our online store, be sure to check that your browser is set to accept cookies from Paypal.com. These cookies are required for the shopping cart to work properly. Without them, you might make your way merrily through the store, then, when you try to check out, :gasp: your cart will be empty! If that doesn't help, please let me know of your problem, and the items you are interested in purchasing, via our Contact form. I can then send you an email invoice with an easy payment link.

Q: Do you give sewing lessons?
A: Yes! My sisters Emily and Sarah, as well as myself, enjoy teaching, and are available to give sewing lessons in our home or yours. We were primarily self-taught in sewing, and love to help eager learners of all ages. Our favorite way to teach is to guide the beginner through the pattern of her choice, showing techniques in context. Contact us for more information.
Q: What is your Privacy Policy?
A: We promise not to lose, give, lend, or sell your information. (not even for a mess of pottage.)
Q: What about returns, exchanges and refunds?
A: When I was a young girl, just starting out with Rose Campbell's Cottagworks, I had a long talk with a lady who was a long time neighbor of ours. She purchased two doll gowns for her grandaughters and gave me some sound business advice that she and her late husband had learned from many years of running their own business: a vacuum sales and repair shop.
She told me about the early days when her husband would run outside to the front of the store to check if the OPEN sign was still there, because no customers had materialized. (something I think all self-employed people experience when they first start out.)
She also told me this: "Your word is your bond."
To me that means that my character stands behind everything I create, every email response I send and every parcel I ship. I am not exempt from making mistakes, and boy am I practiced at making apologies, but I try very hard to not need to make either in the first place.
We have a 100% guarantee on our items. If you would like to return an item, for any reason, please contact me: telling me the nature of your concern or problem, please be prepared to attach a photograph of the item to your next email. We will make every effort to replace the item or offer you a full refund.
Shucks, "Your word is your bond." is a tough 'un. But it's worth it.
Shop Victoriously!
